Categories and Features of ‘Sipda’ 한국어 ‘싶다’의 범주 및 특성: 천성호

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to look at the overall characteristics of categories and functions of ‘sipda’ and to describe specific syntactic ‧ semantic characteristics for each type based on the analysis of the syntagmatic relation of ‘sipda’. In particular, the emphasis was placed on semantic characteristics in this study. As for the auxiliary predicate ‘sipda’ which has traditionally been studied to have the same meaning as [hope], we also confirmed that the auxiliary predicate ‘sipda’ has such a meaning characteristic. In addition, the meaning of [negative assurance] was newly proposed for ‘sipda’ to be classified as a modal predicate, unlike the previous studies.
