Abstract
Literature should be valued in our homes and schools for the enrichment it gives to the personal lives of children, as well as for its proven educational contributions. This study analyzed various reading materials especially related to literature according to genres and subgenres followed by the classification of Fisher(1990). The term genre refers to a type of literature, and within different genres we find subgenres. Moreover, this study introduced resources of teaching for children’s literature in order of fiction, fantasy, traditional stories, poetry, and nonfiction based on Huck’s brilliant book(2001). Furthemore, also this study suggests that if teachers know a variety of children’s literature by genres and subgenres, they can teach English reading with adjustment to children’s personal preference and so manage their English reading class more effectively.
