A Study of the Korean Vowel Articulation of Korean-Chinese Multicultural Families 한국-중국 다문화가정의 한국어 모음 조음 양상: 박지윤^1*

Abstract

This study acoustically analyzes the articulation of Korean vowel in Chinese multicultural families. In addition, this study aims to examine the causes of Korean vowel articulation errors in children from multicultural Chinese families in the Korean-Chinese vowel system contrast. Children and mothers from multicultural Chinese families in Seoul and Gyeonggi were asked to speak Korean vowels after looking at the list of articulation words. In addition, when acoustically analyzed, it was confirmed that children from multicultural families had different Korean vowel articulation errors depending on their mother's Korean proficiency and the child's age. This confirmed that Korean vowels were uncertainly articulated because the Chinese vowel system and the Korean vowel system, the mother languages of multicultural mothers, did not correspond one-to-one.
